  • NE's Hardest Boulder Problems

I moved the new list to http://www.newenglandbouldering.com/hardest/

Check out the new blog with the old list from 2003: http://www.newenglandbouldering.com/...ulder-problems

Please comment on the blog and I will update the list (I know it needs LOTS of updating at the moment).

          Your ascent validated the downgrade...

The Best Buy in Milford clocks in at V12. It was the project linking the start hold on Bloodsport into Highway Robbery

Wow, this is going to be a bigger undertaking than I thought. There have been a ton of hard problems done since 2003...

Yup. Would also be cool to link to, say, Mountain Project for the problems that have descriptions there. Probably deserves a static page, too, rather than a blog post.

I would suggest going over to 8a.nu and checking out all of the problems listed in the main NE areas as there are at least 30+ v12 or harder problems missing from this list, all of Vermont is missing basically, with many NH hard areas missing, you have a lot of non new england states listed as well, if you are going to do that you should have CT problems listed, a lot of Ty Landman ascents have gone up there. Some of the problems listed have been downgraded and in a few cases upgraded due to broken holds. Love that this website is up though, it will be a good way for NE boulderers to connect! Psyched to see what is to come.

Joe, I am surprised that Shoot to kill gets such an upgrade after the breaks. Is that exclusively based on 2 ascents?

Jake List has it as V13 on his 8a scorecard and there's a comment on mountainproject that Ty Landman thought it might be V13. I think the broken hold in the roof makes all the link ups much harder but that is just my opinion. I have no shot at Shoot to Kill....

That broken hold in the roof definitely makes things a bit harder.

I guess the question becomes how hard the two section are now. I have climbed gassed off a lot and didn't think that it warrants an upgrade but for the sake of argument, let's say it's a V9 instead of a V8 and that shoot to maim is a V10, increasing the grade of both the section by 1. Even then, what we are saying is that a V10 turns into V13 by adding a bunch of V9 moves. I guess it could be possible but seems like a lot to me. I can't think of any climb where this is the case.

Haven't sent the climb though so I could be talking crazy

                            According to Max Solution a V9 into a V10 should be V11+

I have heard some say that Shoot to Maim is V11 but I think it is probably V10...

haha, I like Max's equation, it's surprisingly accurate at lots of areas. Maybe shoot to kill is a V11, V12, or even V13, guess we need someone else to send it to confirm. Curious to hear if anyone else is skeptical of V13 grading.

Have you thought about adding hardest boulders sent by a female to the list?
